Promoting or writing: Between a rock and a hard place

That's my latest dilemma. I have to admit that self-promoting on social media is a stressful endeavor that, at least in my case, is leading straight to burnout. I can't into algorithms. I get stressed when nobody's watching or nobody's liking. I have a base of my closest friends and family that I can always count on, and a number of people who are helping me finish off this first project. But it doesn't help with stress and even worse: I'm losing a drive to actually write. That's why the second draft is not ready yet.

Three weeks ago I decided to take a break, I thought: "Let it breathe for a week or so." A week became two weeks and now it's three and I still haven't found any motivation to start posting again. But you know what I actually found? A bit of a drive to write this unfortunate first draft. In two weeks I managed additional 5700 words - seems small but it's big given how long I haven't written anything. The story is coming to an end, and I think I will come to terms with the fact that my books will just have to defend themselves on their own: without the reels on Instagram and TikTok.

I will post here though, from time to time. That's after all where I thrive, in writing something that's more than one sentence designed to catch attention within the first 2 seconds. That's not what writing's about. And that's not what I will spend any more time on.
